NEWS- The AGM
It was very poorly attended. It is disappointing to be unable to get other members to become involved (i.e. help with the work) in their club. The new committee is listed above. If we are to continue to have the use of Pike's Point and indeed a microlight club at all, a better showing at the AGM would have been a good start. We all have busy lives with other commitments, but ARMAC will not run itself!
The President, Pike's Point Airpark Board rep, Treasurer, CFI, and Safety Officer presented reports.
Due to the request from PPAB for additional funds of $1700 (increased rent and maintainance costs) the Membership Fee has had to be increased to $80. The additional $20 will go to PPAB by way of increased levy. A vote was had on the joining fee, and the majority favoured its removal (due to concern that it may act as a disincentive to new members).
A visitor to the meeting pointed out the wonderful asset we have at PP with proximity to the city being unique. However, the tatty fences, the scruffy ARMAC clubhouse and general run down appearance will put intending members off. No doubt there is a large pool of potential members in Auckland who are not being attracted to PP for whatever reasons- could these be some of them?
As a result of this, a concerted effort is to be made to repair and repaint the old clubroom at a working bee at 1000Hrs (or earlier) on Sunday 14. Contact Martyn (editor) if you can help. All help appreciated!
INSTRUCTION
Due to the absence of Willie Morton for the next couple of months we are presently unable to offer instruction at Pike's Point.
Editor's Note
I apologise for the downsizing of the newsletter. Anton has done a terrific job which unfortunately I will not be able to emulate. I will welcome any contributions, articles, items to sell (private owners only) etc.
To save costs, I will post newsletters only to those without email addresses.
Happy flying!
