March 19th

At the Pikes Point Airpark Clubrooms 19:00

Committee Meeting at 18:30 Sharp.

Editorial

This is it the last magazine I'll be doing, this year anyway. Once again many thanks to those who have contributed over the last year.
I'll still try to write the odd article and hope a few other frequent flyers will do the same.
I have included a club list with this mag. It is strictly for club use only and not to be offered to third parties. It will not be put on the Internet so those who get the mag via email will have it sent electronically.
See you at the AGM.

Anton Lawrence

Prez Sez

Well this is the last one prior to the AGM so third and final reminder
2002 AGM is to be held Tuesday 19th March, time 7:00 pm sharp, venue clubrooms. It would also appear that I missed mentioning a rather important occasion in the last edition. Gordon and Carrol Swan have now got their baby flying, with the sea-rey making it's public debut showing at sportavex - well done Gordon.
I don't want to drop anybody in it, but please be reminded that if you have an "incident" and you are unsure of whether or not to make an official report or not, please contact the chief safety officer who will advise you on the appropriate course of action to take. It is your responsibility to do this - nobody else's In the last edition the club/syndicate bantam was out of action. - Well I am pleased to say that it's all oki doki now, and all permitted again. A big effort was put in by several people to make this happen, so it could be displayed at the north shore aero clubs air show. The air show itself could not have got off to worse start - rain. Then the inevitable, 6:15 am the phone goes, its raining they say, no shit I reply, I can hear it on the roof, go back to bed, anyway the show was postponed from the Saturday until the Sunday although the dinner still went ahead on the Saturday night with the armac people seated alongside the RNZAF red checkers. Sunday morning 6:15 am again, the phone goes - good weather shows on. First to arrive was Peter Cole in the Bantam with Warwick Underwood closely behind with Niol Lokington and Vern Booth arriving 1/2 an hour latter. With the rain the previous day the ground had become rather soft under foot but we struggled to push the two Bantam's to our designated trade display area. Lucky Niol and Vern could taxi to there holding points (the age thing). Anyway as the day progressed it was good to see support from people who had made the effort and driven there, Gordon and Carrol, Brian and Erina, John Struthers were among those. The trade part went very well with plenty of interest being shown, we even had enquiries from people visiting from the states and even had a very well known person in nz aviation circles try the bantam out for size... Matt Wakelin who was impressed with the bantam, we now get to the flying display and 11:30 had Vern taxing out for his moment of glory in the Titan with the crowd amazed at the speed of the microlight, 2:30 had Niol ready for his turn, does he taxi out for a long take-off run.... no takes off in the 701's own length and went on to wow the crowd with an amazing handling display Niol was a real crowd favourite. The display closed at 4:00 and shortly afterwards we all departed back to Pikes Point with all arriving safe and sound Finally don't forget there's a fly in at pikes point on the 17th March

See you all at the agm

Andrew
